Abstract

Highlights • Use of Ayurvedic medicines by a layman as self-treatment with an assumption that Ayurvedic/natural medicines are free of side effects. • Availability of potentially toxic substance without regulation or prescription. • Possibility of missing the diagnosis altogether if treating physicians/cardiologists do not specifically ask about the use of alternative medicines. This case report again highlights importance of taking detailed treatment history particularly in patients with arrhythmia. • Successful treatment of aconite-induced arrhythmia with amiodarone. Keywords: Aconite, Arrhythmia, Shock, Amiodarone, Cardiotoxicity
